My PCOS Story

PCOS is a subject that’s very near and dear to my heart. It’s something I’ve struggled with for over 10 years, and it’s taken me time, and trial and error to get to a place where I feel like I have it under control. PCOS is a hormonal disorder that can cause irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, insulin resistance, and weight gain.

For many women, PCOS is a lifelong battle. For me, it was definitely a journey. My journey started in my late 20s when I was trying to get pregnant and struggling with irregular cycles. It’s been a long road, but now I am a mama to 3 and live in a body that is strong, healthy and functions the way I want.

PCOS is something that I will always have, but knowing that there is hope and that natural healing is possible has made all the difference. If you’re struggling with PCOS, know that you’re not alone and that there is hope.

The Impact of PCOS

Today’s episode is what happened during a four month wait to see my infertility specialist and the amazing impact it had on my life.

It’s the reason that I’m here today with a mission to help women reverse their PCOS and live free of the symptoms.

Healing

The turning point of deciding to take action, no matter how imperfect, changed my life in more ways than just reversing my PCOS.

Over the four month wait to see my infertility specialist;
I dropped about 8 pounds (about 5% of my body weight)
I felt better
My clothes fit better
my energy was up

The relief of a break from trying to get pregnant felt lighter, I felt more relaxed and I felt cared for because I was caring for myself. Being able to experience that was huge.

Listen now!

One of my biggest joys from this journey is that now I get to watch hundreds of other women like you do the same thing! Ready to move past the symptoms and the parts of PCOS that are holding them back so that you can create your version of your best life?

Here’s a glance at this episode…

[00:00:06.730]

My PCOS journey didn’t really get started until I was in my late 20s having irregular cycle cycles, not ovulating, and couldn’t get pregnant.

Today’s episode is what happened during a four month wait to see my infertility specialist and the amazing impact it had on my life.

It’s the reason that I’m here today with a mission to help women reverse their PCOS and live free of the symptoms.

[00:02:26.280]

I had gone to my doctor’s appointment thinking, okay, they will figure this out for me. They will direct me to what I need to do to get pregnant. And instead, they came back with, you have PCOS and we don’t have much for you.

[00:04:35.080]

I spent so many nights at 2 AM Googling things like “chances of getting pregnant with PCOS” or “how to get pregnant with PCOS,” “infertility treatments for PCOS” and on and on and on.

[00:05:49.400]

So after feeling miserable for many days, I was starting to get sick of feeling miserable. I decided that I didn’t know what I was doing, but I had to do something!

And with the little information that I had, I made a few lifestyle adjustments. For the past nine years, I have fine-tuned those treatment plans considerably and they have changed my life and hundreds of other women.

[00:06:55.190]

But that turning point of deciding to do something has changed my life in more ways than just reversing my PCOS.

Over the four-month wait to see my infertility specialist;

I dropped about 8 pounds (about 5% of my body weight)

I felt better.

My clothes fit better

My energy was up

The relief from a break of trying [to get pregnant] felt lighter, I felt more relaxed and I felt cared for because I was caring for myself. Being able to experience that was huge.

[00:08:04.870]

I took a test. ….. Pregnant….. I literally couldn’t breathe. And even retelling the story makes me emotional because at that moment I realized that my dream of becoming a mommy was going to come true.

[00:09:16.910]

Was I perfect at [the lifestyle adjustments]? Did I even know what I was doing? No, I had no idea what I was doing. But I made progress. And in some ways, not having so much information may have actually let me take action. Instead of getting lost in the sea of articles, there are to read opinions that there are now on the Internet,

But today, several years later, it’s become an enormous gift in my life because I had to learn how to make my health a priority. I had to learn to listen to and take action of what my body needs.

Today, I get the privilege of living in a body that works and functions the way I want. My body is strong and healthy, has the energy to keep up with my three kids and busy life, and be a part of all of the sports and adventures that my family loves.

[00:10:16.810]

This is my version of living my best life, and it doesn’t involve restricting calories, counting points, or being obsessed with the scale, or having any foods that are off-limits. I’ve just learned what works for me. And today, one of my biggest joys from this journey is that now I get to watch hundreds of other women do the same thing being able to move past the medications, the symptoms, and the parts of PCOS that are holding them back so that they can create their version of their best life.
